Massive Dev chart iPhone app version 1.2

I just updated to the latest version of the massive dev chart for iPhone/iPod touch and it cleared all of my saved settings! I contacted the developer who replied;

"I'm extremely sorry for what happened. You are hitting a tiny bug that (due to my fault) was not caught during the beta testing period.
I have already identified the bug, fixed it, and uploaded corrected app version to the AppStore for Apple review that should take no more than 2 days.

Good news is that you have not lost your data, they are untouched on your iPhone/iPod touch and after you resync with iTunes the corrected app version 1.3, they will appear again.

If you absolutely need to use your app before the update 1.3 becomes available, you can delete Dev Chart from your iPhone and reinstall it from iTunes.
But remember that once you delete Dev Chart from your iPhone you will loose all your customized development times and notes.

So Don't update the app for a couple of days or until you see that version 1.3 is ready.

Thanks for the update! I use that app on my iPod Touch and it's just fantastic.

Does it make the MDC worthy of relying on? All you are doing is making its questionable information even more easily accessible. It is irresponsible, IMHO. There have been numerous discussions here about how useless the thing is because there are no known standards for entries into it.

In my practice it works. It's a starting point, and since it's easily customize-able I've come up with a system that works with the few film/dev combos I use. YMMV

It works sometimes....and other times it does not. That is the point I was making. It is not a reliable or consistent source of information.

If it were simply a gathering of all manufacturers' recommended times in one spot, it would make sense...however, it is that, plus a bunch of other combinations that seem like they can be input by any Tom, Dick, or Harry, with no way to differentiate the two.

My opinion as been stated. I am not one to stomp on someone's initiative, which is always admirable...but I did simply want to state my opinion, which is just that.

It's not that good, too many variables and too many inconsistent, the idea's great but the data is awful.

No-one cross checks it.

The app is good, whatever you think of the MDC. You can enter your own data.

I loaded the current beta version and didn't lose my custom settings.

The app itself is handy, simply because you CAN put your own data in (a lot of the time I am guess-timating anyway, like trying to push tri-x to 3200 to use it in my sequence camera), and then you have a nifty darkroom timer that accommodates temperature change, dilution changes and so on. I love my historic Kodak timer, but have in recent times used the iPod app instead and found it very time-saving.

Can you delete data?

Isn't there a way on the I-Phone to just make a spread sheet? Would be the same thing.

The app isn't just a spreadsheet. It's a functional process timer with other useful functions that combine database and spreadsheet functions.

You can use the values from the MDC as starting points to fill in your own data (like if you disagree with the proposed time for TX 135 in D-76, you can just change the time without having to type in TX 135 or D-76, though you can change those as well, if you use a developer that they don't mention).

I miss having the application on my iPod touch. I so wish there was an android version.
