Massive Balthazar Korab Architectural Photography Collection Now Available for Research

In a monumental achievement of arrearage reduction, all 540,000 images of the Balthazar Korab Architectural Collections are now available for research use, rights free. Archivist Emma Esperon and Reference Librarian Ryan Brubacher describe this remarkable collection in a new blog post. At least 15 people participated in the intense two-year processing project for which a sampler of 2,300 images is now online. The archival finding aid summarizes the architectural projects represented in more than 9,000 folders. Balthazar Korab (1926-2013) was one of the most important architectural photographers in the United States during the 20th century, with hundreds of national magazine covers to his credit in addition to his interest in buildings in Michigan and Italy.
