Not at all sure where to ask,,, but this seemed reasonable. I"ve been on apug for quite some time, heading this way at a snails pace,,, 1/2 way here ;-) (that's film in the camera,,, everything else digital).

I've a negative that's been scanned, (and it shows on the negative), with a vertical stripe,,, appears it's bleed thru from light while loading the film. Never had it happen before, but anyway. The negative does have a very uniform sky, which is where it shows the worst. So,,, can I make a mask from the uniform part of the bleed through and correct the whole vertical area? (a bit). Not looking for perfect, and not a real pro at gimp yet.

I'll attach the image, I think this resolution shows it ok. It's vertical,,, about 2/3 to the right side.

Why not just clone it out? Should be very easy....

Lenny

That'd work for the sky ok,,, at full resolution and a reasonable print size, it shows all the way down the print. I'm darn sure not good enough to start monkeying around in the cliff face or across the mud flat.

Hummm,,, which does give me a plan. One of the folks at work does this sort of thing on the side,,, I think I'll just hand him the full resolution file and let him deal with it... good idea, and thanks for giving me a push. Sometimes all it takes is a little conversation to knock things off center...

the sky and the mud flat are an easy clone, from what I see on my monitor at this res the cliff face and the rest look ok. it does not look like light strike to me, too uniform and straight, looks more like a scanning issue. You say its on the film? Roll or sheet?

I'm sure I saw it on the neg,,, I'll go look again with a loupe,,, Didn't even occure to me to look close. Having them rescan would be a bunch easier for me. I'm not all that comfortable with anything other than some really basic digital editing/resizing sorts of things.

120 roll Pentax 645

I can see it everywhere but the cliff face,,, at full resolution on my monitor I don't see any evidence of lateral compression or stretching or anything like that.

Not sure what it is about the pic I like,,, but I'm likely to print it for the wall. It was shot between Ephrata and GrandCoulee WA on Banks lake,,, I think it's Steamboat Rock, (well,,, I know that's what I call it anyway), close to the northern end of the lake.

I saw that it ran down the whole image. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get to work. It might take an hour.... This would be fairly easy, as long as you have a tablet. If you don't have one, get one.... I do this kind of stuff all the time... It's really not as hard as it looks...
