The vexing issue isn't taking racial equality or the reality of what faces POC even today...far far too often it's the people who anoint themselves (loud) spokespersons on the issue that repels many who'd otherwise be receptive to the message.
So you are saying if the American negro had only keep quiet, had never mention their oppression, and had behaved very nicely over the last 200+ years, they would now have the same level of freedom and opportunity as us whites?

Edited to add...a peace-loving minister spoke about a dream of racial unity...and it got him assassinated.

Add the dream of racial unity with the need to live peacefully thru separation, and you just may achieve it.
