Hello All. Just picked up a nice example of a Kodak Model 1 Color Densitometer. Its the old one from the late 40s in art deco style bakelite. Searching online and here on APUG and I can't find anyone that has a electronic copy of the user manual. Does anyone have a copy they'd be willing to share?

Hi jsouther,

I haven't seen one, I don't have access to the archives.

But in other threads where people asked how to use it, it seems they got enough information to use it. Sort of "Look down the tube and turn the dial until both spots look the same" kind of thing.

Hope you only need a little help in that direction to get it going for you.

They are absurdly simple machines, so much so that a manual almost isn't necessary.

This gist is this: Set the dial to zero, then look through the sight. Now, turn the silver knob sticking up out of the base back and forth (might go around a few times) to adjust the lamp height so that the center dot visible through the sight is the same brightness as the outer ring. It might help to squint a little.

To take a reading, put a negative under the sight and look through, then turn the dial until the inner and outer segments match again. Lean back and take note of the number on the dial, which is your density reading.

Yep, that how I work the one Ive got ATM.
