For sale is a Manfrotto 410 3-way geared pan-and-tilt head with a Hejnar conversion plate and Hejnar 3.25" clamp (the version with the long silver knob) to accept Arca-Swiss-type mounts. Rated for 11lb load. The Manfrotto head is in excellent condition aside from some cosmetic damage to the mechanism covers (see photos). A previous owner replaced the normal Manfrotto quick-release plate with a Hejnar conversion plate and Hejnar clamp, both in like-new condition. Everything about the head works as it should - both the geared adjustments and the quick-adjust knobs for all three axes work smoothly. The bubble levels in the head and in the conversion plate are fine. I don't have the original Manfrotto QR plate. My kitchen scale says this setup weighs 3 lb 3 oz (1446 grams); the overall height from tripod mount to camera mount is about 5-3/4".
As configured, the Arca-Swiss-style clamp doesn't sit directly above the tripod mounting screw, making panning movements a bit peculiar. I didn't find this especially objectionable, but if your work involves a lot of panning you may prefer Hejnar's extended conversion plate ($75 from Hejnar).
I liked the geared fine controls and the quick coarse controls on all three axes but my herniated discs demanded that I replace it with something lighter (along with other equipment weight reductions). That was a few years ago and I doubt I'll go back so it's time to find this bit of kit a new home. The current new price of this setup is $488 - B&H have temporarily marked the head down $35 from their regular $385 price, and the two Hejnar parts are $69 each. I'd like to get $330 shipped in the US, basically the price of the head alone. Payment by PayPal goods-and-services is fine.
