Will the Mamyia Sekor 65 mm, made for the TLR, have a large enough image circle for 6 by 7? I am looking to mount it on a lens board and use it on a Busch Pressman Model C (2 by 3) with a 6 by 7 back. Also, what is the diameter of the shutter?

Thanks.

I'd just crop the image on the Busch to 6x6. Are you sure the Busch can focus a 65mm lens?

...the shutter diam is about 60mm. I think stopped down to f/11 it should be sharp all over the 6x7 neg. The 65mm doesn't seem to vignette on 6x6cm - you wouldn't really expect it to. It's retofocus so it's a long way from the film plane.

I remember back in 1990's I toyed with a 4x5 view camera and 105mm Mamiya TLR lens - at least that one had a huge image circle.

I have two 105mm lenses designed for Polaroid and 6x9 that cover 5x4 but that's illuminate rather than sharp coverage at all apertures, A 65mm mamiya TLR lens may well cover 6x7 I have heard of them being used on 5x4.

The shutter's a standard size possibly Copal/Compur #1 compatible.

Were you using one of the Heliar 105s (D or DS) or the Tessar type (black or chrome, without D or DS marking)?

Interesting. The 65/3.5 TLR lens has six elements in five groups. The 65/6.3 Press/Super23/Universal lens has four elements in four groups. Not quite the same lenses.

OP, if you have lens in hand you can measure the shutter. You can also and ask it whether it will do what you want.

Its been a long time since I sold my 2x3 Pressman and I don't remember its lens throat's size. All I remember is "small." With that in mind, your best bets are 65/6,8 Angulon or Raptar/Optar. Different design types, much the same performance, and with small rear cells. I'be had the Raptar, it was pretty marginal.

These days I have 2x3 Graphics (Pacemaker Speed and Century) and Cambos. The 65/8 Ilex and 65/8 Fujinon SW, both 65/8 Super Angulon clones, have rear cells that will clear a 2x3 Pacemaker Graphic's 48 mm x 48 mm lens throat. So do 58/5.6 and 60/5.6 Konica Hexanon/Omegon, but these will have to be reshuttered to be usable. I have all but the 65/8 SA.

Thanks for all of the comments. The likely downside to using the Mamiya is that it may be too long to allow the camera to close up. The upside is that its retro focus design should allow easier focusing on the Busch Pressman, as it would probably be on the focusing rail.

I agree that the Schneider Kreuznach Angulon 65 mm f6.3 or similar would be the best bet as to a physical fit, but thought the Mamyia may have some potential. Other people indicate that the S-K 65 mm will work on the Busch Pressman, but the S-K Angulon has a flange focal distance of 63.5 mm, and may end up on the inner rails to focus at infinity, so I would have to put marks on the rails to match the standard to. I would mainly use it at infinity, or some handy hyper-focal distance, so this is workable.

Also, I would not have asked my questions if I had the lens in hand. I can use a ruler and examine negatives. I did not want to buy a lens that would not work - that's why I asked.

By the way, the throat size for the Busch Pressman Model C is 50 mm.
