Yes Dan you're right here, the Makiflex is a 6x9 SLR, and it is LARGE, it can be wrestled into being a 9x9cm SLRE by way of sheet film adapters that should work with the Plaubel back, that might be seen as small from 4x5" sheet film though.....
And you're right abouth the ProS backs, they came into my posession as part of another deal I was getting stuff for my Mamiya Press, which is a 6x9 rangefinder, I never had any use for these backs and was contemplating finding a large Mamiya RB67 SLR, when the idea of using them on my Makiflex stuck. Upon reading your answer I gave them a closer look, and you are indeed right, there is some interlock in place, butr I think it can be circumvented, albeit a nuisance.....
Now what to do with these ProS roll film backs, they are fully opoerational, to bad tossing them...........
