As the title says, the lens in question is a Mamiya 100mm f2.8 normally used with a Mamiya Universal or Press 23, but in this case it is fitted to a custom-made 115mm lens board ostensibly for use with a 4x5.

I must apologetically confess I know nothing about matters such as this and consequently look to APUG users to help me with understanding this lens and its use on this lensboard.

I have two 4x5 units that could in theory accommodate this lens. One is a Crown Graphic and the other is a cousin, the Graphic View monorail.

Questions:

a). Could this lens be used on the Crown Graphic, and if so, any tips for its use? Would its 115mm lens board ensure good coverage?

b). Ditto for the above, but with respect to the Graphic View?

My thanks to all...

Joe

Joe, if the lens is in shutter -- it should be -- it can be attached to a 4x5 Pacemaker Graphic board and used on a 4x5 Crown Graphic. Also for a Graphic View (different board, though).

Will it cover 4x5? Well, it was made to cover at most 2.25" x 3.25" so there's no guarantee. Trying is cheap. At even odds I'd bet against it covering 4x5 but, as I said, trying is cheap.

Stop asking silly questions, take the lens and shutter off the 115 mm (square, I presume) board its on, measure the hole, get a 4x5 Pacemaker Graphic board with the same sized hole and ask the lens how will it covers 4x5. If you have a 4x5 Crown Graphic or a GV, do a quick sanity check first. Remove whatever board is on the camera, hold the lens on its 115 mm board up against the camera's front standard and try to focus it on a distant object. If it focuses, good, if not scratch your head and think some more.

it won't cover 4x5, no way. even with polaroid pack 100 (2 7/8" x 3 3/4") there is quite some vignetting. I have 3 100mm 3.5 universal lenses that do cover polaroid 100, but it's just. the only mamiya universal lens that covers 4x5 ist the 75mm, a fine lens, but no movements possible.

I never could get the 75 f5.6 to cover. Always had dark corners, so it really isn't usable on 4X5. The 127 f4.7 and 150 f5.6 are ordinary tessar's and should cover 4X5. The 100 2.8 is just a 6X9CM lens. A very good one!
