Hi all — I’m trying to see if anyone has encountered this before.

The other day on set, my 90mm SEKOR Z lens stopped working mid-shoot. The RZ67 II body would make a beeping sound, but none of the indicators in the viewfinder were blinking or turning red. The shutter wouldn’t fire—just continuous beeping. I initially thought the issue might be with the body, but after switching to two other lenses, everything worked perfectly. I’ve had this lens for 2yrs without an issue, using it constantly.

A friend suggested that the sensors/contact pins on the lens might not be communicating with the body, and recommended brushing off any dust or debris and lightly using a pencil eraser to clean the pins. The eraser method helped temporarily—the lens fired a few times—but the issue returned, and reopening the lens and eraser method became hit-or-miss.

My assessment might be off, and the problem could be something else entirely, so I wanted to check if anyone has seen this before.

Has anyone encountered and resolved this issue? Has anyone had a repair done for something similar? I’m trying to figure out whether it’s worth pursuing a repair or if buying another 90mm would be the more reliable/affordable option.

Thanks in advance for any insight !

If another lens functions, it is most likely a connection issue between malfunctioning lens and body. You may have an intermittent wiring connection within the lens itself that was momentarily resolved during handling while cleaning the electrical contacts themselves.
Shutter not firing is either due to one of several interlocks built into the camera body and attachments, or connection issue with electrical communication.
