Mamiya RZ67 shutter won't fire!

I've ran into a snag with my beloved Mamiya RZ67 and was hoping someone here on APUG may be able to help me out. I went shooting last weekend with a few friends and my RZ was working perfectly. I was using a cable release screwed into the lens as well as the shutter button to make exposures. Unfortunately in the rush of things I hit the shutter button while the cable release was in the lens and ruined the exposure. Oh well...

Anyways on one exposure, I went to advance the film by pushing the advance lever down and it wouldn't budge. It seemed stuck in place and upon forcing it, something snapped and the lever is now free. But now the shutter will not release and the mirror/secondary shutter will not flip up.

I have tried two lenses and have the same problem with both so I ruled out a bad lens.

Excuse my lack of technical terms but you know how by the shutter release button there are three colored dots (red, orange, and white)? When turned to the orange dot, I hit the shutter release button and hear a singular ping noise. When turned to the white dot, I hear nothing.

Also, the battery is brand new. I replaced it to rule out a dead battery.

It does sound like you may have stripped a gear or the like. I doubt very much that's it's electronic.

Yeah you're right. It's a rule I try to keep in mind but at the time the "maybe just a BIT more pressure will free this up" idea popped into my head

The "ping" with the shutter button on orange may be the shutter firing on the 1/400 default mechanical speed, but clearly some part of the wind on/cocking mechanism is broken.

I do this more frequently than I should too. I should have it tattooed on the back of my hand.

sounds like wind lever probably broke the pin that secures it to the winding shaft. if that is all it is you might get out easy. there are repair manuals available that show how to remove the lever-, etc. Mamiya USA is pretty helpful supplying PDFs of those via email, if you want to DIY.

This begs the question of why it broke in the first place.
If it's just the pin, that solves the lever engaging the cocking stuff, but.............

I doubt anything is broken, though it might happen.
The RZ level often feels like its moving free as if something is broken when in fact its just not wound properly.

Read the manual (it always helps), and try these steps (already covered on another RZ not firing thread):

Remove the back
move back level to "M" (for multiple exposure)
Move the shutter release ring to orange (mechanical firing)

Fire

Try to cock the lever.

Also - try firing the camera with the lens off and the lever in M postion. the mirror should come up and you should be able to wind it back down.

Step 2:
remove the lens
Locate the safety shutter release pin
While Pressing on the safety pin, rotate the two projecting poles (should both be by red dots) away from the green points. See of the shutter in the lens fires. This will confirm the shutter works. Then -
Wind the lens - let go of the safety pin and wind back the two pols until they reach the GREEN dots. You need some pressure there, but after you reach the green points a spring action will move the poles back to the red points, where they should rest.

Re attach the lens and try firing/winding again.

Yo so I had let a friend try out the camera without knowing he pushed the lever more then need causing the pin your talking about to be broken off could you send me the pdf and information where to buy that certain pin ?
