Just got my camera back from a repair and I've been having a issue with the shutter firing/mirror getting stuck in lock up. I have two backs and essentially, the first time I attempted to use it the shutter would not fire at all. I switched backs to see if that was the problem and the other back fired, but once fire the mirror did not return into position and the shutter advance on the side of the camera body would not move forward. I can still wind the image forward on the back itself. I switched back to the first back and now it fires as well, however the same problem occurs with the mirror not returning to position and the winder on the side not advancing. Wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar. If it is a repair issue I can always send it back, however the repair store is far an requires me shipping the camera out. I'd prefer to troubleshoot it on my end if it's just small thing, or some setting that has change, or something I'm missing.
I had the interlock switch break on my RZ67 which prevented it from firing in the vertical position so if it works fine in horizontal position it could be that.
Also if the mirror lock up socket on the lens sometimes doesn’t return properly and can cause similar behavior as the mirror will go up but the shutter won’t fire.
This sounds like a "mirror lock up" situation. If you have the lens shutter release (the threaded cable release that is on the lens) raised when you fire the camera with the body release the mirror will lock up, film won't advance until the lens leaf shutter is released.
In normal operation a double cable release is used, it first trips the mirror up, then pushing further will trip the lens shutter.
I have an RB which needs new foam. The mirror foam has become sticky enough to hold the mirror up if left for any amount of time. Might be something to check, very light pressure on the mirror will release it and the foam is sticky to the touch.
