Hi,

I’ve been experimenting with flash recently with my Mamiya RZ67 Pro i and seem to be having problems achieving sync speeds higher than 1/60 second. Everything I’ve read online states that this camera is able to sync up to its maximum speed of 1/400s?? I’ve tried many techniques many techniques but birthing seems to be working. My current set up consists of a wireless Elinchrom transmitter connected to the hot shoe with an added cable running from the transmitter to the lens. I’ve even tried shooting on the mirror up setting with a trigger cable connected directly to the leaf shutter lens but the result are the same??

is it possible that this being the first model of the RZ67 means it maxes out at 1/60??

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Photrio.
The shutters are in the lenses, so I would look to the communication between the lens and your transmitter.
Mirror up should have no influence on it.
Certainly the manual indicates that all shutter speeds synch with flash.
In case you don't have it, here is the link: http://www.mamiyaleaf.com/assets/files/documentation/RZ67_Pro_v4.pdf

Use the sync terminal on the lens...it is X-sync only (no M synch). The hotshoe sync is X or M.

You should be able to X-sync electronic flash to 1/400 with the Seiko leaf shutter. What indicates to you a failure to sync at faster speeds?

If you have the Pro II, there are intermediate shutter speed points on the shutter speed dial.

Yeah I’ve been connecting the transmitter to the lens via the terminal on the lens, I think it may just need a service in that case! Thank you for the info though!

It could also be the transmitter - in some cases they don't supply sufficient signal to reliably work with the mostly mechanical synching switched in the lenses.
