Mamiya RZ67 Polaroid Back Light Leak

hey guys,
i spent the last few days playing around and getting to know my recently bought rz67 pro I, and it has been a real treat, except for an issue with my polaroid back. i shot fuji fp3000b and the two shots i took outside in the sun came out with light leaks on top. i had no such issues with all other instant pictures is took inside (also shot a pack of fp100c). i removed and inserted the darkslide between every exposure - could that have been the cause in the sun? but wouldnt the light then fall in from the side, rather than from the top?

Looks like you've got a light leak somewhere(everywhere!) on the bottom of the polaroid back.it's possible that there's not enough light indoors to have any negative effect on what happens to the shots taken inside.

would that mean there is light coming inside between the body and the back? since there arent any lightseals (foam, rubber, anything) like in the film-backs in my polaroid-back, any suggestions on how to prevent light getting in? or any tips on finding out where exactly the light comes through?

Be aware that the image prints upside-down.... so you are actually looking for a source of leak on BOTTOM side of the back.

I've had this issue, have you removed the Polaroid back since taking the picture?

In my case I discovered that I accidentally hadn't pushed 2 of the 4 pins in all the way and the back had a gap when I locked it down, I didn't even know it was possible to lock it eve some of the pins were out.

Perhaps you did the same thing? Check to make sure all 4 pins are pressed tightly in the back.

great tip! have switched backs a lot since taking the two pictures, but i think its possible i didnt properly lock the back, fiddling with it the first time outdoors.
hopefully i wont encounter this problem again (will check from now on!), and can assume you were right and it was rather my fault than a faulty back...

No worries, I realized I had done it and partly because I was in a rush I attached the back when the camera was upside down and that's why I didn't notice.

Obviously if it continues there's some other issue, take ONE shot in super bright light, shine a flashlight all around it and leave it under a bright lamp, all with the dark slide OUT, then take a picture with normal exposure, THEN put the dark slide in, THEN pull the tab and pull the single film out, wait the minute and a half to let it develop, then pull them apart and see what it looks like, if its fine then it was user error, if not its some other issue (could even be the lens shutter or some other issue unrelated to the back.

I have a polaroid back that I can't completely take the dark slide out if it is in direct or bright light. I just pull it out far enough to fully expose the film. I find this fix easier than looking into why I have a light leak.
