I have a polaroid back for my RZ67 Pro II (not sure if it was made by NPC or not). Recently I've been shooting a lot of instant shots with the Fuji packs whenever friends come over to visit, and everyone is really digging the analog goodness in the prints. Moreover, I am finding that the quality of the pictures themselves is actually very, very good, considering the size. I've been using a recently acquired 110mm f/2.8 lens, along with a Canon 580EX II flash hooked up via a pc flash cable. With this combo, I can basically shoot indoors at any speed, and get very good reproducible results every time.

Now... here's the big question. Is there another medium format camera that takes a 3.25x4.25 polaroid back that will give similar results? I'm mainly looking for something that will print at least as big as the RZ pola back - which measured is about 7cm square... a very nice size, and perfectly centered.

I was curious about the Mamiya 7II, and the NPC back that was made for it. I searched a bit and found some information about it - namely that it has a piece of glass in it that apparently helps the image transfer. But what I can't figure out is whether or not the actual image size on the print is as big as the RZ?

A friend of mine suggested I look at dedicated polaroid cameras, but am not sure on the quality as compared to a medium format system. The RZ produces stellar results, but it is big, and a chore to set up every time I want to shoot a few instants. If there's something comparable in a smaller size, please let me know!

Thanks!

its actually fiber optic, not glass. I've read that there were some produced, but in order to really be able to shoot film along side polaroid(thinking working pro's here), you would need to have 2 bodies, at least.

there are mamiya 2x3 rangefinder cameras that have polaroid backs, and can also take roll film backs, 2x3(6x9) or 6x7.

If I were you, I'd stick with the RZ(I own a ProII as well). since you're content with it, why not just stick with it?

the mamiya's(not 7's) are almost as big(if not bigger) than an RZ with a 110 on it.

just my $.02
