Mamiya RZ67 - No resistance with cocking lever after taking a picture

Hi everyone, I have been a user of the Mamiya RZ67 for a bit over a year now. In the past few months, I have been experiencing a problem whilst shooting, with the cocking lever. I can still take pictures, the shutter advances and the mirror locks in place - it's just that the whole flow of taking image after image is completely hindered by it.

The problem: After I take a picture and advance the cocking lever, as soon as film, mirror and shutter have been advanced and locked in place there is no resistance to pushing the cocking lever as there would be after taking a picture. It takes loads of tries of pushing the cocking lever down and down again, until the "resistance" appears/it locks in place...

Does this have to do with the camera body or the film back?

I would guess it has to do with the camera body needing adjustment.

In this video, which does NOT address your problem, you can see the internal gears and springs of the RZ67. After heavy use, the camera can drift out of specification, as it is at heart a mechanical camera. You should send it in for adjustment, as continuing to use it might further damage the internal mechanism.

With my RB67, I used to sometimes encounter something similar if the neck strap got in the way of completing the (body) cocking maneuver.
Check to make sure there isn't something blocking the lever from completing its full path of travel.

That's true! The cocking arm is curved for a reason!
