I'm having a similar but not identical problem to the one mentioned in a recent post (there was a url link here which no longer exists). I recently acquired an RZ67 Pro ii. It came with a pro ii film back which works fine. It also came with an older pro back which had completely degraded light seals.
I replaced the light seals at the weekend but when I loaded some film in it to test my handy work the film advance lever wouldn't stop winding and I went through the entire film without being able to take a shot. The film was winding on and you could see that the knob on the back was rotating. The mirror also went down and the shutter cocked but it wouldn't let me take a photo. To begin with the film counter started advancing but then stopped before it reached 1. The orange cocking lever light in the view finder lights up when you press the shutter. Clearly the camera isn't recognising that the film has advanced.
Is this a fault anyone else has experienced? Is there a simple fix? I've double checked that it isn't the same issue the other poster had. I am definitely pushing the advance lever down far enough and as I say, it works fine on the newer back. This older back was thrown in free with the camera and I don't have the money right now to have it serviced. If I open the back up to take a look am I likely to damage anything? Do you think if I can get the frame counter working correctly this would fix it.
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks, Simon.
