Hi, I'm trying to take self portraits at a distance and I doubt I'll find a 25-50' long cable release that actually works or is affordable. So I'm wondering are there any hot-shoe remotes or intervalometers for the Mamiya I can use? Or do you guys think its not possible?
I was thinking of buying some wireless remote on Amazon.com but since the RZ is electro-mechanical I don't know if it would work. Thanks!
Edit: I have a Pentax 67 as well but again, theres no way to fire these cameras using a timer or anything that I know of
Adorama makes a 20-ft air-bulb remote release. I've used mine with LF cameras and it works pretty well. There's a reviewer on the site who's stated they use it with their Mamiya RB.
There's also a 33-ft long release, but it's a lot pricier...
The manual says: "Cable release contact:The shutter can be released by mean of a cable release connected to a contact on the camera body / Remote control is possible by means of a receiver connected to the same contact."
This video shows someone's setup for this using PocketWizard equipment and a power winder equipped RZ67 (including a DIY cable):
External self-timers can be found inexpensively. This one, for a Bolex ciné camera, was less than 2€. After a fixed number of seconds, it will depress the shutter for a selected number of seconds. If used on a still camera, it could be used to trip the shutter once (at your selected shutter speed) or it would hold the shutter open for a selected interval if you chose B.
This is a good solution. But my real question is if there is enough space to attach one of these on the shutter button ... since the lens is very close.
