Mamiya rb67 pro sd film not advancing

Hey everyone! I just purchased a mamiya rb67 pro as. I loaded my first roll of film and wound it to 1. I tried taking a photo and couldn’t. Then I switched it to multiple exposure mode and it fired. I was able to take another exposure on multiple exposure. Now I’m trying to advance the film and it’s stuck. I switched it off multiple exposure. Not sure what’s going on. Any advice?

Is the rotating back in a solid locked position? Shutter release button locked? I'm a RZ person so not expert. Mamiya still have instruction manual online.

Welcome to Photrio.
There are three versions of the camera - the Pro, the Pro-S, and the Pro-SD.
There are also three versions of the backs - Pro, Pro-S, and Pro-SD.
Different cameras and different backs offer different safety interlocks, and the interlocks depend on which combination of back and camera you have - all of the backs will fit on all of the cameras, they just work slightly differently.
What type of back do you have?
And at the risk of unintentionally being insulting I'll ask - have you removed the dark slide?

I’ve had my RB67 for several months now. And I still forget to take the dark slide out before the first exposure.

Thanks! I bought the pro sd body and the pro s back. Yes I took the dark slide out, I made sure the shutter release was not locked and that the back was locked into place.

Did the film back positively stop advancing at frame 1? If not, the interlock is still telling the camera body "not ready" -- hence why it'll fire with the double exposure lever actuated (that says "don't worry if I'm not ready"), but not without.

Good suggestion. It's likely to be something like that.

It more-than-likely is a problematic back. It sounds like you've done everything correctly, between what you've stated in this post and your original post.

The ProS backs do wear out.
