Is the Mamiya RB Pro-S the only mamiya camera that takes a 6x8 back? Or do the Pro-SD and RZ67 also take them? Aplogies for all the spam.

The Pro-S will take a 6x8 back provided you have a Pro-SD Revolving adapter for your Pro-S.

Also, you will need to check the light baffle at the back of your Pro-S. Take off the current Revolving Adapter, and look at the rear port at the back of the Pro-S body. There is a flat-black light baffle held in by 4 precision screws. If that light baffle says "8" or "6x8" on it, you have all three parts to shoot 6x8 on your Pro-S:
[1] 6x8 back
[2] Pro-SD Revolving Adapter
[3] 6x8 Light Baffle.

If you do not have a 6x8 light baffle, fear not. I just ordered, received and installed one this week. You can get for a mere us$15 from Mamiya Usa (www.mamiya.com).

I don't have a Pro-SD, but I assume it does not have to have this 6x8 light baffle installed.

As for the RZ67, you will need a special Adapter that permits you to use RB67 backs on an RZ. I believe it is called the G adapter, and there was one listed earlier today on eBay. I think the opening at the back of the RZ67 is big too (i.e. at least 6x8) like on the Pro-SD - but don't quote me on that.

Hope this helps.

The one on eBay has all these 3 components. Are you saying a 6x8 back can be used on a Mamiya RZ without modification? What is it you're shooting with?

OK, maybe this will help. I have measured all of the components that I have (i.e. the size of the opening).

RB67 Pro-S Set-up:

[1] RB67 6x8 Light Baffle Opening (at back of RB67 Pro-S body):
68mm W x 69mm H

[2] RB67 Pro-SD Revolving Adapter Opening (between Pro-S and Film Back): 74mm W x 59mm H

[3] RB67 6x8 Film Back Opening (on actual film back):
74mm W x 57mm H

This above combination for the RB67 definitely works.

RZ67ii Set-up, the following were measured:

[4] RZ67 body opening (at back of RZ67ii body):
67mm W x 68mm H

[5] RZ67 G Adapter Opening (between RZ67ii body and RB67 film back):
68mm W x 58mm H

[6] from above: RB67 6x8 Film Back Opening (on actual film back):
74mm W x 57mm H

I am not at all sure about this combination. You may want to check with Mamiya USA. I am suspicious that the [5] G Adapter opening may be too small.

I hope this helps you - I have measured everything I own.

The RZ does not take the 6x8 back. A few of us have speculated about ways to make it happen, but I don't know anyone who's actually rigged it up.

The 6x8 backs are what I use most on the RB pro SD.

Will the 6x8 back work on the RB67 Pro SD without any modification?

I believe so as long as you are using an SD-Pro Revolving Adapter too. To be sure, get the light baffle opening measured (like I did on my PR0-S in an earlier post).
