I've seen many similar threads but didn't find the answer I was looking for so Ill ask here.
I purchased a PRO S film back and I'm not sure if its working correctly. Is it possible to see if the counter works by cocking it without film? It seems to just stay on S the whole time.
It is possible to get the frame counter to move without film.
Push down on the small metal tab (1) with your fingernail. Move the roller (2) the direction it the paper backing of a roll would if one were installed and being advanced (ie, right to left, or from the spool side around towards the pressure plate). If you hold the metal tab in without letting up, the frame counter will advance. You do not need to use the film advance lever for this.
