I purchased a new Mamiya Mirror-Up Cable Release. I'm having issues with it working as designed. It will trigger the mirror, and it will trigger the lens shutter, BUT not one after the other. When I have both cables connected it doesn't work. It will trigger the mirror-up, but not the lens shutter. The lens shutter only fires after I start to unscrew it. I have the black tip connected to the lens, and pressed the mirror-up release by hand, then triggered the lens shutter and it worked. I did the same with the chrome tip. I then repeated the process with just the mirror-up button and it worked. But for the life of me I can't get it to work together. In the owner's manual it mentions that the chrome tipped cable may need to be adjusted for length. Could that be what's causing this? I'm attaching the black cable to the lens as directed in the manual. I'm thinking that the MAS Gods are laughing at me!

Why did you not try to readjust the assembly?
By measuring tip lenghts you should be able to re-install the original state, in case adjusting was to no avail.

(I do not know that release twin-cable, but assume one tip has a thread to adjust its length.)

Yes, the chrome tip is adjustable. I believe that's what's giving me the problem.

Yes, the adjustment for length is crucial to get it to working properly. I gave up on mine in the end as it was triggering the mirror but not the shutter and I ended up with a lot of blank frames. I now use two separate cable releases, or actually, just one on the lens as you can trigger the mirror from the shutter button.

Yes my RB is the same, my double release was third party but capable of large offsets.

In the end I gave up and now release the mirror off the grip and the lens by a singleton release held on to grip with masking tape...

After having issues with the OEM unit I made my own up. I took two single cables and inserted them into a single handle and labeled them accordingly. Was cheaper to make it up then my original purchase of the used OEM unit. And, this one has worked every time flawlessly.
