M645 1000s shuttr stays open until the battery check button is pressed.
Does this sound like a battery problem?
A friend wants to sell it and if it's a battery then I'll get it.
There is also a lock button for the shutter on the bottom right of the camera, 2 little dots. I have mistakenly locked it on several occasions. I have found it's usually either that or the battery.
Newer, more plastic, but excellent cameras, your lenses would fit but not the prism, the huge advantage is interchangeable backs. There's a website somewhere dedicated to Mamiya or look on Camerapedia there should be details of the models there.
Well my ebay M645 1000s body arrived today. The shutter fire but the mirror stay up until the battery check button is pressed. The manual says this is what happens when the battery is dead. I replaced the battery and it still does the same thing. If I hold the battery check button down when I fire the shutter the mirror works correctly????
Any ideas? Of course I can send it to KEH and have it repaired for $135.00 USD
You just don't have good luck with these at all! Please don't give up. I promise that this is really an amazing system when it works right. Can you return this to the ebay seller? I would try buying from KEH since their bodies are around $130 if I remember correctly. I think it is a little more garenteed from them.
Don't worry...I have had great photos from my M645. I'm sold on the system. When I bought this 1000s body the seller said that the mirror did not function properly so I knew what I was getting into. I just thought I had outsmarted the seller and that it only needed a battery...
It may be the battery but also check the battery contacts for any signs of corrosion. The inner contact and the ring around the chamber or the battery cap. I'm not sure of that design. Some cameras will use a metal battery cap for ground, if not and it's a plastic cap there will be a ring around the outside of the battery chamber that may need cleaning.
