Hi, everyone.

A few weeks ago I picked up a Mamiya c330. When I loaded film in it, I realized that the winding arm did not sit in the small hole on the side of the camera - and the the shutter cocking lever ends up in the down position.

When the winding arm (A) sits in the small hole, the shutter cocking lever (B) is at the bottom of the arc:

When I looked at images of the c330 online, I noticed that when the winding arm is in the small hole, the shutter cocking lever is at the top of the arc. That doesn't happen on my camera:

Anyone have any suggestions? It's kind of awkward to have the winding crank up all the time. Is there a way to reset this? Or - am I missing something here?

Many thanks.

Take it off, rotate it 180 degrees and put it back on again? It might have been taken off at some point ad out back wrong. There should be a slot for a screwdriver in the pin in the hinge.

Thanks, xtolsniffer - I thought of that - but the arm only goes on one way - it's kind of tough to see, but in the first photo there's a small nob at about 1 o'clock on the winding gear that prevents me from rotating the arm and putting it back on again.

I think that the round disk that that little knob is on has been taken off and re-installed wrong.

Are you winding forward to cock the shutter and then backward half a turn to get the arm in the correct position to fold it down?

That doesn't work with a C330 - it doesn't permit winding backwards.

Appears to be identical to my C330f, and I was able to undo the 'hinge screw' on the handle, flip the handle over so the knob is pointing out, and put it back on.

So in the second picture, remove the handle from the disk, flip it over so the knob fits in the little hole, and put it back.

[However, I suspect this may NOT have been an 'accident' - Someone might have flipped it around so that they handle is 'always ready', and doesn't rattle in the hole. I've been meaning to find something prevent that, and you may have just given me my solution...]

The other thing you could try is to take off and rotate the chrome ring 180 degrees. There should be a couple of screws under the leatherette. You might have to dig deeper and loosen a few more things till you can take it off and turn it around though. It's quite a simple mechanism but the parts are small.

I was wrong, and should have finished my coffee yesterday before posting. Sorry for my previous misinformation/misunderstanding.

xtolsniffer appears to be correct, and I had flipped the position the crank-ring was actually in around in my head. My solution wouldn't actually help as I apparently managed to forget which photo was which by the time I read Henry's comment that the little nob was in the 1 o'clock position.

The nob is supposed to be in that position, just not at that phase of its crank cycle...

Thanks, everyone - I will take off and rotate the ring 180 degrees without spilling the small parts all over the floor.
