Hi guys, I have recently updated my blog with a repair job I did on my Mamiay C33 TLR body and Sekor 80mm f2.8 Seikosha lens.

Pretty cool. I attempted the focus calibration on mine, but backed right out as soon as I saw those little tiny shims and had a pro do it.

There, it is great to know that my tutorial will be helpful for someone. It only takes a few measurements really, and might be a boring process of screwing in and out the screen between tests. Basically if you have the original shims, they are measured to the right distance. If you lose them, use your hand or anything to lift up the focusing screen very slightly until focus is just about right, and estimate/measure that distance. Now use shims which are the same thickness.

My focus was messed up so that when I focused on people's eyes at a wide aperture, the space about a foot in front of them was in focus. The Mamiya C33 repair manual has a very specific procedure for correcting this, using the 105 mm lens and a target at 45 degrees. You use a random target square to the lens. Do you not have the repair manual? My usual camera repair guy shot a target square to the lens and couldn't understand why I shot a target at 45 degrees. He isn't my usual repair guy any more. The alternate guy I sent it out to adjusted it perfectly.
