Hi all

Its been a while and I have been working with this project again, where I try to create 100 portraits of strangers from the streets with my fathers old Mamiya C220. First name and favorite music group/band/style are noted as well. Here are 5 more from the series. Hopefully I will get a lot more shots during this summer in Denmark.

Any comments and suggestions are much appreciated

Name Paloma. Favorite music: David Bowie. Kodak Tri-X, Ilford DD-X 1+9 dilution.

Name: Carla. Favorite music: Darkthrone, Black Metal. Kodak Tri-X, Ilford DD-X 1+9 dilution.

Name: Claus. Favorite music: Janis Joplin. Ilford FP4, Ilford DD-X 1+9 dilution.

Name: Ask. Favorite music: Burnt Friedman, Electronic Music. Kodak Tri-X, Ilford DD-X 1+9 dilution.

Name: Tristan. Favorite music: Motown. Ilford HP5+, Ilford DD-X 1+9 dilution.

I like Mario photo bombing in print number 4.

Wow; you've done your subjects justice. I concluded that portraiture (which I've never really mastered) is all about putting your subjects at ease. Clearly the case here--very good work.

Thank you, very much appreciated

Yes, I agree, I try to avoid the big smile when doing these portraits and often tell them to just do what they were doing before I contacted them.

What wonderful shots! The C220 is a great little camera, especially in your hands!

Beautiful shots! Specially like Tristan's shot.

Very nice work. Don't post all of your pictures. Save them for a book you can sell.

Thanks Alan. Yes, I do really want to do that, but I have to read up on the rules regarding image publishing. I am definitely doing one for myself one day, though

Wonderful work. Especially like "Ask" and "Tristan."

Have you been doing them all with camera hand-held?

Thanks for posting!

Wonderful portraits. A nice balance between 'personality' shots and a more neutral topographics. I feel as if I am seeing relaxed people resting within themselves all in all.

Although be careful with cigarettes- an easily cliched trope of gesture and 'pose' driven into us all from Hollywood over decades.

Are you familiar with the work of August Sander? e.g. https://www.famousphotographers.net/august-sander Although he usually had people looking at the camera.

Thank you . Yes, hand-held with the 80mm f/2.8 lens. I will go as low as 1/30 to get a usable image. 1/15 and below is too risky for me.

Thanks Dan! I'll have the cigarettes in my mind, though I do try not to change or "setup" the subjects, if possible. But I see your point.

No, I didn't know August Sander, but I can see from your link that there's some inspiration to be found. I'll dive in one of these days - thanks again
