Looking for opinions from eyeglass wearers that have or continue to use the magnifying hood on a C220 or C330. I wear glasses (contact lenses are not an option) and I am wondering if the magnifying hood would be useful or if it has too short of eye relief to be useful.
I use the 3.5/6x hood with mid-sized glasses, and don't find it bothersome. I'm not super keen on the bulk trade off, but I do prefer the view it gives compared to the flip up hood.
The eye cup is fairly deep, and making a modified one should be an option if you're into some DIY stuff if you do need a little more space to avoid it rubbing on your glasses, but I'm not confident that I could non-destructively remove the rubber on mine.
I'm back into Mamiyaflex today and I just snagged a nice copy. All my Mamy's had the stovepipe. I attached adhesive rubber to mine to make it easier to use with my eyeglasses. My new one has a perfect rubber eyecup so we will see on that.
I never had a chimney finder for my copy of Al Jolson's dear old Mamy but have them for both Bronica and Pentax 67. My eyes are in very bad shape and I prefer the adjustable-diopter chimney finders to the waist-level variety, hands down. Adds bulk but what the heck.
Thanks everyone for the input. I am going to patiently keep my gooder eye out for a magnifying chimney in nice shape. If anyone has one they don't use or knows of someone piecing out a kit, please let me know.
