This post is just as an information post for anyone else who gets the same problem I did.
I haven't used my Mamiya 645Pro for a few years and, after going on a day-out and taking a roll of photos, realised that I had left the dark slide in the whole time - doh!
I was a bit confused by this because I thought that it wouldn't let you fire the shutter with the dark slide in.
After doing a few searches I found some suggestions that dark slide problems might be caused by dirty contacts between the back and the body. I lightly rubbed both sets of contacts with a earbud dipped in lighter fluid, and it nows works correctly.
