So i am a proud owner of a Mamiya 645 super, 55 2.8, 80 2.8, 150 4(all glass is flawless), metered prism, and power winder-all for $300. I bought a cable release off ebay-$61 after shipping, an extra back and medium length auto extension tube off of KEH-$70, and some extra inserts from a local store. What i want to know is how did i do, and what else do i need, or maybe look into getting later down the road.

You did well.

If your eyes require one, you should look for a diopter correction lens.

There is a very useful left hand grip (#401?) but if you get one, be sure to get the right connector - the one for the Mamiya M645 Pro won't fit.

Be careful with the power winder - if there is a weakness with the Super, it is with the strength of some of the gearing. I would lean toward a manual crank - if you don't have one, you should look for one.

Look for a good internet source for the PX28 batteries - for some reason they are often promoted for use in dog collars???? (the Super cannot use the lithium alternatives).

In case you don't have it yet, here is a link on the Mamiya website to the manual for the Super:

I've a Super (used to have 2) and a Pro, and like them a lot.

Have fun!

I use whatever the drug stores have for batteries which is the Duracell 28L or 2cr11108 which is lithium, never had a problem with it yet in either the 1000s, Super, or Pro camera. Maybe I'm just lucky.

I used to stock a few extra batteries and found I had to throw them away with the one in the camera. Usally changed the camera battery because I wa s afriad it would leak.
