This happened when I was testing my new back that arrived...I shot without looking to the viewfinder so I couldn't see if the screen dropped first or did the mirror somehow drop it.

Has anyone seen such an accident and could I fix this myself? Attached images should clarify the situation.

It could probably be sorted in less than 5 minutes by a competent repairer.
A person who isn't competent could do an awful lot of damage though.
If you have a repairer nearby take it to him or her. I wouldn't post it if at all possible, too much chance of further damage in transit.
The screen appears to be trapped between the mirror and the screen housing but if it moves both will be scratched.

How adventurous are you?
Iffn it twere mine I'd put a small piece of masking tape on the back edge of the screen. On the frame.
Restrain the mirror with a finger nail to keep it from rising & gently see if the screen will lift or tilt to the rear of the camera.
Unclemack is correct about the damage though.

Thank you both. I ended up taking the camera serviced and the repair guy said that the right side of the camera (when looking from front) should be opened to fix this. The estimated costs were 60 euros.
