I can't tell you about the latest digital versions but the first twenty-five years of bodies all use the same strap connection. Beside the Mamiya straps there are third party specialty straps available.

Is there a neck strap that works with the big motor grip in place? I tried the hand strap once, couldn't make sense of it at all. Great camera, though.

There is a proprietary clip used on the Mamiya 645 Super and Mamiya 645 Pro/Pro Tl that isn't, to the best of my knowledge, supplied by any other supplier. If you have the clips, many other straps can be used with them.

Oh and those clips, they are what permit use of the neck straps with the motor drives installed. The clearance is pretty tight though.

Be aware that there are two kinds of strap lugs for the Mamiya 645. The later kind are necessary for mounting on the 645 Super, Pro, and Pro-TL, as they will fit down onto the second notch in the post on the camera body's drive side. The older type lugs will not work on the newer bodies. If you are using an older 645 body, either kind of lug will be sufficient.

I have yet to find a good source for Mamiya 645 strap lugs at a more reasonable price. I got mine directly from the parts department at Mamiya America for about $20, if I remember correctly. If anyone knows of any "generic" strap lugs available please let me know. I do product design and am working on a couple camera strap designs and I would like to be able to offer them with Mamiya (etc) strap lugs if users are interested.

Finally, I'm not entirely sure about this, but I have heard that the strap lugs for the Pentax 645 will also work on Mamiya 645 bodies, though would not accommodate the winder as the later Mamiya lugs do.

Ah, quite interesting indeed. I've been shooting with my M645 Pro for about an year now, and have just recently found that Rollei films give me the sharpest images with the Sekor lenses.

Probably like other M645 Pro users, I've only been using the hand grip from the film advance to "hold" the camera. Any strap system you come up with, would be greatly appreciated.

I use a quite wide OpTech strap for my Rollei TLRs, and love how it distributes the weight for a very comfortable feel. Please feel free to e-mail be directly once you're ready for user-testing!
