Dear Apug Members,

I need your expertise advises; I received present - MAMIYA 645 Pro;
Last week took some photos, but on short-exposures like 1/1000 1/500 1/250 I Received Shadow;

Long exposure 1s-1/125s working perfectly!

Please help me to find solution;

Here is Long and Short exposure samples.

When the opening and closing shutter curtains move over the image area, they must move at exactly the same speed, or you'll get the uneven exposure you see. Its an easy adjustment for a technician to make, but not something you can do yourself because it requires a shutter speed tester capable of reading both curtain speeds separately from the overall shutter speed.

Dear Friend,
Is there any guide or video to do test shutter curtains myself?

Regards,
David

Not sure if it helps but doesn't the shutter on the Mamiya 645 series shutter run vertically which would mean the shadow would run horizontally if the were a curtain problem.

Remove the back and lens, point it at an evenly lit area like a wall and trip the shutter throughout the speed range. On most FP shutters a variance can be seen.

I agree with mwdake in thinking the shutter runs vertically. Since the area's at the side of the frame and soft edged I'd think more of an obstruction, either in the body of something hanging in front of the lens. Strap, sleeve or similar.

Hello;
I would check the seals and flocking. Look at the film back and especially the dark slide. Steven.

Which way does the shutter run? We're assuming vertical but is that accurate?

That did not seem correct to me but I am not familiar with the Pro models so I did some looking around.
I found an online post somewhere else that indicates Mamiya changed the shutter on the 645 series with the Super and Pro models so now it runs horizontally.
So, with that being the case your problem is almost certainly due to the shutter curtains timings being out of adjustment. A decent camera repairman should be able to fix that for you.

Actually, Right To Left when the camera is rightside up.

However, as the image on the film will be upside down, when you look at that problem shot, it will work out to be Left to Right.

Thanks for the thread - I've never actually noticed which way the shutter travels until the thread piqued my curiosity and I pulled out the camera to check.

The shutter needs service.

Darkslide in partially?

I thought of that, but unless the camera was being held upside down when the shot was taken I think the blocked area is on the wrong side.

Has the problem been solved? What was it? the First shuttercurtain brake?
Best regards
