Mamiya 645 Pro lens coupling issue

Just purchased a Mamiya 645 Pro from Keh. The lens isn't coupling with the aperture pin when I attach the lens (80 2.8 C). It seems that it just doesn't line up with the pin and sits behind it resting along the body. Has anyone had this problem? Any suggestions? I tried to take the coupler off the lens and reverse it to move it away from the body but it seems to be glued in place.

If this is the pin I think it is, it is part of an accessory metering finder. Which finder do you have?

I've now pulled out my camera and realize that the coupling pin is indeed part of the camera body, not the finder.
It sounds like someone has either bent or modified something on your lens or your camera. On my camera there isn't really enough space behind the coupling pin on the camera for the coupling mechanism to slip behind it.

That's what I thought.. any suggestions on how to fix it? I believe it's glued in place but it should need to be flipped

The coupling on my lenses is attached with screws. The prong that reaches up is toward the back of the lens.
I'm wondering whether your problem is with the pin that is attached to the camera.

The "bunny ears" rest along the body and I feel like they shouldn't be touching the body.

Your lens is a 'C' series (the later CN had fixed rabbit ears without the screws), the rabbit ears are definitely the wrong way round - they should line-up with the front (closest to the front element) of the A/M switch (i.e. the rabbit ears should be between the two screws and the aperture ring - not behind them both).

Looks like somebody has fiddled with the lens at some point, but it looks like the body might be OK.

That's what I was thinking I unscrewed it but who ever took it apart glued it back together. Any ideas?

Depending on the T's & C's of the sale, the obvious suggestion is to return them, but I can understand there may be a reason why you'd want to persevere with it if it's fixable. You could try and see if they'd replace just the lens. I'd be wary of trying to fix it if it doesn't want to play.

I can't think why anybody would reverse the rabbit ears - as far as I'm aware, the AF versions would take the manual focus lenses but would only meter in stop-down mode (the connection is electronic rather than the rabbit ears on the AF bodies). I'd be wary of mounting the lens as it is as it may cause damage to the body or linkage.

Those prongs are farther back than on any of the three lenses that are currently in my camera bag.

i dont work on that camera, but looking at your pictures, it seems that bracket held on by 2 screws just has to be turned around so that arm from the body can properly align in that groove.

I took the screws out and somebody has glued the bracket to the lens and it wouldn't budge.

call keh n return it. if its out of return date, pry the bracket with a utility knife... only if the parts are metal.

i know its a fun camera. but keh is very good about returns. tell them youd like to shoot it this weekend... maybe tge can ship it next day post?

KEH might be willing to exchange the lens.
And of course, you can always use the camera as is - just without the benefit of a in-camera meter.
