Can anyone provide any information on this lens? I have looked for online reviews, but I would prefer to hear of APUG'ers that have used it and what they think. I currently have the 80mm L/S and 150mm, just looking to expand my horizons.
Never had a problem with mine, it is a very good lens and derives very sharp pictures, if the price is right, there is no reason to not go for it, I am sure you will be very pleased with it, I know I am with the one I have.
I have one and used it quite a bit when I used that size mamiya. Now it just sits in it's nice leather hard case. I loved that lens, and it gave me really sharp good pictures. That is unless I screwed up something. Operator error is not a fault of the lens.
If you look at my APUG gallery, at least one of the photos there ("Boats at Rest") was shot using a Mamiya 645 45mm lens. I like mine a lot.
The one I have is the older, C series lens. The newer N series lens is a bit different. Everything I have heard or read about the newer version is that it is at least as good, if not better than the older version. I believe that the multicoating may be more advanced. It also is likely to be smaller than the older version - certainly the filter size (67mm) is smaller than on the C version (77mm).
Also Matt
P.S. I should also mention that I have the 55mm (non LS) lens as well and use it a lot. There is a significant difference between the two, and I really appreciate having both.
I had one of the S versions. It had 67mm threads but was not an N. Great lens that I used a lot until I decided to go with an RB67 rather than the 645.
I looked at that and the 35mm lens...and decided on the 35 instead, not sure if I read something I disliked about the 45.. I have a 50 mm shift lens for it..if interested.
