Very basic one really, I've recently got my hands on a Mamiya 645 as well as a motor drive for it. I just don't know how to remove the hand crank in order to install the winder.

Any chance someone could share their wisdom?

Thanks.

Which Mamiya 645? Is it the old versions, or a Pro/Super version?

If the older versions, there is a small catch you need to release, then spin the handle backwards. Continuing with the old version theory, you will want to take that drive apart and lube all the gears! I bought a new one from B&H many years ago, and it was the most noisy thing I had ever used. After lubing the gears with a good teflon bearing lube, the noise was cut in half.

Now assuming the newer style of body, they have an obvious release built onto the bottom of the crank assembly. Slide the lever over to unlock and pull straight off. I prefer the winder that takes the 2cr battery because it is belt drive and about half the noise of the winder that takes the 6 AA batteries. it is also much lighter.

It think that covers all the bases for you.

Thanks guys, got it figured. Alas what's missing is the winder attachment that comes with the unit that you put in place of the handle. I hope it won't be long before I find one of those.

You might need to buy another winder to get that adapter. I wouldn't think of selling the adapter without the winder. That said every once in a while they do come up on ebay. If they will send it to you Keh has a couple of bargain grade winders with adapters for $45 and $35 or almost free with the current exchange rates. Shipping may cost you the most in that venture.

Adapter is pictured screwed to the 1/4-20 mount screw where it should be stored when not in use.
