So today I am going to pick up a 200mm 2.8 APO locally. He posted a picture saying the lens does have a mark on the front element which he alleges does not affect image quality. I have linked a picture of the image he posted. Considering the size do you think its just going to be a cosmetic concern?
fill it in with black marker and it will be fine -- so small a blemish will not hurt image quality as long as you don't let sunlight hit it and flare -- hence the black marker.
I will do some tests with it, getting it with a few other items for a good deal so even if its a little banged up it might be worth it . I haven't seen much info online about the lens but I have heard nothing but good things about it and I am interested to see how it performs with the macro extension rings for some tight headshots!
