Mamiya 645 1000s Self Timer woes

Hello there!
Earlier this evening I took a picture using the camera's Delayed Shutter Release (or, Self Timer) along with a cable release in Bulb mode. When my desired exposure time was complete, I tried to end the exposure but could not. The shutter button stayed depressed and I was only able to end my exposure by rotating the shutter speed dial. The self timer feature works perfectly on all other settings except for Bulb. I wonder if anyone has encountered this before? I will be most grateful for your advice! Sincere thanks.

Is your cable release a locking one?

No, it didn't - that's why I am so puzzled by this.

Do you know if your camera has ever had any sort of normal maintenance during its 50 or so years of life? Self Timers are the sort of functions that tend to need that.

You may want to check the owner's manual. Depending on the prism finder and using the bullseye setting, the shutter can lock in the open position, and you have to turn the dial to "B" or 1/1000" to close it.

Thanks Matt, I'm sure you're right. I would be surprised if the camera has ever had a CLA.
