Hi there, I have been troubleshooting this issue for a while and have come up empty. Perhaps someone here has experience to provide some insight.

After loading film, I can advance the shutter to 1 with no problem. Then after taking a shot, the wonder seems to release the film while winding and it then winds without resistance and without advancing the film. While troubleshooting, I found that opening up the back and closing the latch again fixes the issue and I'm once again able to wind to the next shot, take a photo and then the issue occurs again.

Every once in a while, the film advances fine with no problems. I've purchased. Dark-field bag so that I can open and close the back but it's an impractical solution. ANY idea at all what may be causing this issue?

I should mention that that the camera is not set to Multi when the problem occurs.

Sounds like an insert problem. You are pushing the insert in fully so the two little latches pop out? If not try another insert.

Yeah, the best trouble-shoot would be to try with a different insert. They are cheap enough on ebay, with dark cases, which are handy anyway.

If this doesn't fix it, it probably something mechanical in the body, like worn gears.

I have two 1000s bodies with no issues. As they are affordable enough, perhaps the quickest fix would be to buy a second body?

On my Pro, there's a little pin that goes from the body to the back, pushes in and out. If you have one on your 1000s make sure that pin moves freely.

Hello;
I have a M645 and a 1000s. Any winding issues that I have had were insert problems. Check the rubber on the tire that rides on the film backing. This can become hard or have flat spots causing erratic winding. See if the gear on the takeup spool is slipping. Bought a cheap one that was missing the spindle nut and had to make a part to make this work. Have done cla's on both cameras and unlikely that there is a malfunction with the winder. Steven.
