Is there a repair person/company in the US that specializes in repair of Mamiya rangefinders? I just bought a Mamiya 6 and would like to send it to someone knowledgeable for a CLA and check of the RF/lens alignment.

Someone the equivalent of David Odess for Hasselblad.

Thanks,

Mark

Mamiya USA

Why not send it back to Mamiya USA for service? The focus was off on my 6 and they did a great CLA in a reasonable period of time. While they may not have parts for the film advance gears any more, they were happy to take my money and perform the general service that the camera needed.

Thanks Ken. Out of curiosity, how much was the CLA? And what was the turn-around time?

are you talking the old mamiya 6 or the new ones ?
in pvd ri there is zack's camera repair, and he does amazing work.
someone here recently sent him an old mamiya 6 rf and he had no complaints.
i have taken my stuff to zacks for close to 20 years off / on. the last thing he worked on of mine
was a pen ft

I had a broken Mamiya 6, with a cracked lens mount and intermittent shutter. I sent it to Mamiya USA who sent it back to me with a note saying it was too broken to fix. It sent it to Bob at Precision Camera Works. He made it like new at a reasonable price. I wouldn't hesitate to send him my 6 again.

One note about Bob, he's not real big on communication. In the six months he had the camera, I called and emailed several times but never got a response. I had pretty much given up on the thing when a woman called saying my camera was ready and what address did I want it sent to.

Thanks for the info about Bob at Precision Camera Works. Wow, that's a long time to be without a camera.

jnanian, it's the "newer" Mamiya 6.
