I recently acquired an old mama 6 foldout, which I believe dates from the 1940s.

The bellows appear top be in good shape and the shutter sounds accurate.

However, the focusing wheel gear doesn't budge, except slightly and grudgingly. I'm hoping that there is a release mechanism that I haven't been able to see, and isn't mentioned in the booklet. However, this seems doubtful.

Neither Mid State Camera nor SK Grimes, both in my home state, are familiar with this model.

Any advice would be appreciated as whether there is a release somewhere, or who might be a dependable repair outlet.

Thank you,

Jim Benson

ps no matter what people tell you, or what you read on the internet,
DON"T send it to Sir-tow-six, he doesn't work on these cameras, and UNFORTUNATELY, he won't tell you this
until you get it back in your possession and it is in worse condition than you sent it to him and you say
" what did you do to my camera" ..

I have the same camera, yes the focusing should be smooth from infinity to close focus, there's no locking mechanism from what I can tell on any of the folding Mamiya six models. Try opening the back and slide out the removable pressure plate and see if there's anything jammed in there, could be as simple as that.

It seems his website has been taken down. Maybe he has closed up shop.
