Mamiya 6 Folder

Acquired this nice, but not perfect folder a couple months ago. The shutter and wind mechanism didn't work, but with a little acetone on the shutter blades and a few drops of gun oil in the wind mechanism it now seems to work fine. The lens wasn't perfect either, but cleaned it the best I could - it should make useable images if I use a hood. Got a series VI adapter and hood for it. I like the fact that it can be configured for both 6x6 and 6x4.5. To change to 6x4.5 there are two hinged flaps inside the back to form a mask, the viewfinder has a sliding mask, and there's a film wind mechanism adjustment.

Anyone know the age of this camera?

there was a guy in australia who was big into these cameras
had a collection and wesite devoted to them wish i could remember his name and the site address !

btw if you never need a CLA send it to zacks in providence ri, he works on them.

he does NOT work on them. have fun !

Hi, I have one of these, though not the dual format version. Mine's two and a quarter square only. I recently shot a roll of Fuji slide film in it and the results were most impressive. A b/w shot I took made a magazine cover. On the bottom of mine is inscribed "Made in Occupied Japan" so I guess that puts it in the late 1940s.

Thanks all for the info. xya, according to your site it appears that my (dual format) camera may have been made in 1953. Do you know if they were made after 1953?
