Aside from being a touch smaller, I cannot think of a good reason to get a Mamiya 6 over a Mamiya 7. Will the retracting lenses cutting about an inch off the front to back dimension make much difference to you withwhat you have in mind?
The Mamiya 6 and lens is significantly cheaper than the 7.

I think it's possible to hold new Mamiya 6 at a "vertical" position but the degree of comfort is not like a 35mm SLR with a vertical grip attached to it...
I wouldn't. I'm just telling how it would be to do it with a 6 and implying not much difference for 7.Why would you want to hold a square format camera vertical?
I think that spacer is for tripod. Not good enough for bracket because of lack of anti-twist measures.There is a spacer available for the 6/7 that allows a flash bracket or tripod head plate to be attached to the bottom of the camera allowing access to the curtain and room for the spool ends to release the film.
