I recently got a paying gig (a first for me) and of course my Mamiya 6 went down!

The film did not seem to be advancing correctly and I was getting overlapping exposures and also 12 exposures on the first frame (no film advance at all). The counter on the body will now not zero and seems permanently stuck in the at over 12.

Any ideas on what the problem is? Where is a the best place I can send the body for repairs (camera is in ex+ shape otherwise).

Thanks Gerry

You might want to speak to a camera repair shop in your area or even go to local Mamiya distributor directly. I was looking at getting a mamiya 6 so I did some research and i was quite surprised at how often this issue came up. The word on the internet is that mamiya no longer have parts to repair the faulty winder mechanism on these cameras, but you cant trust everything you read. Better to get it straight from the horses mouth.

I would talk to Mamiya's servicing department in New York. Whilst travelling there in June, I sent my Mamiya by courrier to them, a couple of parts were replaced, including the winder.

Before I had sent the camera to them, I had called them ; they were very helpful. Overall, their service was brilliant and highly recommended.

Details are as follows:
MAC Group
8 Westchester Plaza
Elmsford, NY 10523
Phone: 914-347-3300

I hope this helps,

Dee

MAC no longer fixes the winders on Mamiya 6's -- I've tried.

In June 08, they replaced the winding spring and lube winding on my M6. It is probably a semantic issue here as we are all talking about winders ... and may be there are winding issues and winding issues.

They told me by phone today that they can't replace a winder mechanism. If it is a matter of replacing springs, screws or rollers that is something they can still do.
