I have a 45mm lens for my Mamiya 645 super. There is a blemish in the centre of the front element which causes a flare spot in the centre of photos. The mark has a slightly etched appearance over a circle of around 10mm diameter. Does anyone know if there is a means of fixing the spot without expensive re-coating?

...is the mark on the outside surface? If it's inside you could try removing the front element for cleaning.

Thanks for the replies. I have now taken more pictures with the lens with an orange filter and a lens hood and the problem has disappeared. As I usually use either yellow or orange filters I will continue using the lens as it is. I must continue to use the lens hood. Lesson learnt.
