Has anyone had any experience using the Mamiya AE prism on the m645? I'm thinking of buying one for my spare 1000s body. Are there any advantages to using the AE prism over the CdS prism?

The AE, powered by the camera body battery, offers faster automatic exposure. No needles to center as on the CdS.

I have an AE finder on my 645. It does a fine job.

Yep, the AE is a big upgrade over the budget-minded CDs prism. My favourite of the three early metering prisms is the PDs though, with the LED readout. It's the best for low-light work (the AE has a needle/shutter speed readout a la Nikon FE). Both the AE and PDs prism are body-powered.
