In my opinion, Copying and Duplicating, is the most difficult of photographic tasks. The challenge of making a photograph look just like the scene is substantial. Having an understanding of how to accomplish this gives greater knowledge allowing the pictorial photographer to manipulate color and tone reproduction so that scenes can be converted into the “image of the mind’s eye”.
This book provides a scientifically based description of how to control the parameters that determine the resulting properties of the image. In doing this it thoroughly describes the parameters and how to control them. It is a thorough most technical of discussion.
The copy photographer is highly skilled. Arguably the most technically skilled photographer. Learning his techniques provides powerful tools. He/she uses the same tools as the pictorial photographer but has refined specific tone reproduction and color skills.
A truly educational book. Look through the table of contents and the index.
