Magnetic stirrer

Hello,
I'm scouting for a nice magnetic stirrer with a sensor temperature probe, what about these:
- IKA classic RCT basic ( then I have to add a sensor probe) I can find for around 220€ used

- IKA RET CV with a sensor probe for around 400€ used

- FOUR E'S MI0102003Z with PT1000 probe for around 289€ new.

Any suggestion is appreciated. thanks

You are looking for a heated magnetic stirrer with a sensor temperature probe. Maybe for most this is obvious, and the 2nd dial is a further hint, but I got confused at the first photo.

The first photo is a heated magnetic stirrer. Then I have to add a sensor probe if I want to control the temperature. That one is only an option that I found used.

I assume you already have a high resolution, high accuracy thermometer (stem or digital) in use. Unless the probe of the heated stirrer yields control feedback to the heater, a dedicated stirrer probe makes not much sense.

An external probe is quite accurate, usually it can measure with an accuracy of +-0.2 Celsius degrees. And can control the heating of the stirrer too. Usually these probes are PT100 or PT1000

A high precision digital thermometer with a datasheet already is above 100€.
I thus wonder what to expect from this. But for these purposes the temperature precision may not be that important as the automated temperature control.
But how to set the temperature? With that thing above the switch?

Yes it’s around 100 or more. You can set the temperature and the probe will check and automatically let the temperature stay in that range. For what I understood better brands of magnetic heating stirrers are capable to not overheating using the magnetism and works to lower temperature

I have never owned one of these heated stirrers. I always assumed they had a built in thermostat.
Is the external probe just a more accurate version?

For years I managed quite well with a Pyrex beaker sitting on a sand bath that is heated by a spirit lamp beneath, and stirred with a glass rod.

Perhaps I am from a different era and should be in one of those living industrial museums.

You can do all the things manually, or just use some tools to speed up the process. You can go from rome to Paris by horse or using car or airplane it’s all about your decision
