Hi everyone,
I’m heading to Madrid in a couple of weeks and was wondering if anybody knows of any good labs that can process B&W film.

It scares me a bit to think that, after shooting for 10 days or so, my film will be ruined by x-rays at the airport.

Thanks in advance,
E.C.

Thanks Mark,
I did that search but found out several of them are no longer in business. : (

Also, I'm planing to bring about 50 rolls with me.
Does anyone know what the restrictions are regarding the "import" of film into Spain?
(I haven't been able to find anything online yet).

Thanks again,
E.C.

Hello,
I live in Spain (not in Madrid). I've used interphoto (pro darkroom in Madrid) for color developing and printing (C41) with no issues. They do offer bw processing. You can ask them in advance.
I have ordered films form everywhere with no restrictions and never had a problem. I don't know if you have different results sending films to your country.

I agree with Marcos. Interphoto is a good lab. I used them for E-6 quite often, and I'm sure they will do a good work with your B&W film. According to the information on their website, if they receive B&W film before 10 am, it will be ready the following day.

Another good lab, although more expensive than Interphoto is http://lab35.es/. It's not far from the Gran Vía/Puerta del Sol area (20 minutes walking or 10 minutes by underground/metro).

I suppose there are more labs in Madrid, but I can recommend Interphoto and Lab35.

I would be surprised if 50 rolls of film are over the limit for customs at the airport. Anyway, you can buy film in Madrid at reasonable prices. In my experience, the place with the best offer of fresh film in 35mm, 120 and LF is http://www.fotocasion.es/ . It is located in El Rastro, exactly the place where you will probably be on Sunday morning (Yes, they open Sundays). As far as I remember, Fotocasión offers a film processing service, but I'm sure they don't do it themselves.

I hope you enjoy your trip.

Within the EU the restrictions on imports by travellers should be basically the same.
You may bring in film for private, non-commercial use.

There a limits though (for tax and duty free import) based on the value of goods. For Germany one already may be at the limit just with films (in case of expensive versions).
