I've actually never really shot colour >200 before for anything that mattered (except some moving-target Portra 400/800 6x17s), all the rest was expired/lomo grade stuff or RVP / ektar / nps / portra 160.

A few weeks ago I finally pulled out the Nikonos V I bought a few years ago and put my first test-roll through it snorkelling over New Years, so bought some Fuji Pro 400 NPH for it (first test passed, it didn't leak that i could see).
Went to Macodirect to get some C41 chems to dev it and a few replacement rolls of NPH (€8 beats $25 a roll locally).
Instead, I saw this Maco TCS Eagle 400 Colour stuff in bulk rolls, for less than even B&W Ilford/Kodak bulkloads (more expensive than Foma B&W, but then everything is).
Specifically, this stuff.

Is it much different than the other clear-base 200-speed Digibase CN 200 Pro?
Just a higher-speed version, a totally new emulsion, or totally the same with a more optomistic speed-rating (which is not unheard of)?

It sounds good in theory, a wide latitude ("practical sensitivity range lies between 400 and 800") will definitely help me underwater (I'll just set the TTL meter to 400).
It (claims to) have some sort of inbuilt saturation-increase to compensate for the clear base (I read PE say elsewhere that clear-base has reduced saturation than orange-masked), and some sort of sharpness-enhancing thingy too.

At any rate, I've bought a 17m roll to play around with, I might even E6 a few rolls too.
I can't guarantee that my tests will be any sort of comparable because I only plan to use it underwater, but I'll share if I get anything good.

So anyone else heard of or used it? I did a bit of searching around here and got approximately 0 hits. Experiences / opinions?

Many films have a high transparent base. What you are referring to is the lack of an incorporated colour mask.
These are complete different things.

Have you had any of it developed yet @Dr Croubie? How did it come out? How does it compare to brand-name films? Thanks

I went on a website to see some examples. Granted, I'm not sure how they were scanned, but it looks very similar to the now discontinued Rollei/Agfa Digibase CN200. Slightly more grain, but seems to be a bit sharper. Maybe the same emulsion, just tweaked a bit for its intended use?
