Maco / Macophot UP 25 and Paterson Aculux 2

Hello,

I was thinking of shooting some landscapes with 35mm Macophot UP 25 and developing it in Paterson Aculux 2. The Massive development chart does not have information on this process, and I cannot find any references elsewhere either.

Does anyone have any advice on EI, concentrations, timings or agitations?

It won't be too hard. Aculux 2 gives about the same shadow speed as D76. With a dilution of 1+9, it runs 5 1/2 to 7 minutes with Pan F & Agfa 25. A 1+14 dilution will extend the time to 7 3/4 to 10 1/2. [ D76 has a development time with Maco 25 of 6 minutes, and Aculux is not too different from D76 ]

Shoot a normal test target: a scene with good shadows and highlights that you are comfortable with from experience. Set the camera manually, and guard the lens from flare.

Make 36 exposures at the same exposure at the ISO speed, and develop the roll in Aculux 2 diluted 1+15. I would agitate the film 5 seconds every minute. The extra time for 1+15 should prove handy with film that develops as rapidly as Maco 25.

At the 7th minute, open the tank in the dark, and clip off about a 6" strip and drop it into a beaker of fixer. Close the tank, agitate and close the tank. This film should clear very quickly, so you can turn the light on when the tank is safe again.

Remove a clip every 2 minutes, so you will end up with clips developed for 7, 9, 11, 13, and 15 minutes.

Rinse and dry the film, and contact print the strips. You'll probably have not found the PERFECT time and exposure, but you have a practical range, and it should take less than an hour to do.

I haven't been able to find any UP 25. Is it still available?

I got my UP 25 from someone else, so I do not know if it is still being produced.

Just wondering, is UP25 the same emulsion as Efke 25?
